v0.8.0 Released - New Game Modes, In-Game Voting, and more!

New Feature: Multi-Queueing

    • We now have several multiplayer modes, and you can queue up for any number of them simultaneously.
  • New and Updated Multiplayer Modes:
    • Ranked - Going forward, only cards released before the beginning of the month are legal in Ranked.
    • Casual - All official cards are allowed.
    • Festival of Frugality - Only commons are allowed.
  • Festivals are a new type of temporary game mode. Various festivals will be rotated through as time goes on.
  • New Feature: In-Game Voting!
    • Your first draft in most game modes, other than Ranked multiplayer, will now consist of cards taken directly from the subreddit.
    • While drafting, you have the opportunity to vote on the cards.
    • In-game votes are worth about twice as much as subreddit votes for determining what cards get in at the end of the week. (With diminishing returns to prevent abuse)
    • If you run into a bug with a voting card, report the bug using the Voting interface, instead of the normal bug report button.
    • Cards with lots of bug reports may get the Bugged keyword, which removes all effects from the card, but keeps the text.
  • New Feature - Flavor Text
    • Flavor text is extra lore you can add to your cards. It shows up as italicized text below the abilities. Existing cards that wrote flavor text into their ability descriptions have been updated.
    • Adding or changing flavor text on an existing card is a cosmetic update, and doesn’t take up an update slot.
  • New Feature - Collection
    • Collection is a centralized place to view your unlocked blueprints and edit your decks.
    • Removed the gear button that opened the advanced deck options menu. The options are now available by mousing over the hero portrait area.
    • Added mana curve visualization.
    • Reorganized card filters and added some new ones.
  • Players who submit at least one card in the top 75% most upvoted cards for the week will now receive 200 Gold.
  • New Planet in main menu
  • New attack animations
  • Rules Changes
    • When an attacking unit is blocked by multiple units, the attacking player now chooses the order the defending units will take damage. (Previously, units were damaged in the order the defending player declared blocks.)
    • If you receive a unit as a level-up reward and your board is full, you’ll now be able to choose a unit to replace.
    • Effects that move cards from in-play to the graveyard are now treated the same as destroy effects. For example, Who? will trigger entomb Entomb effects.
  • UI Changes
    • When choosing from less than 4 cards, the cards will now be centered in the frame.
    • When you opponent plays a card that didn’t start in their deck, the game now indicates where it came from as it resolves.
    • Card names are now vertically centered when the card doesn’t have a tribal type.
  • Hero Changes
    • Dhat’s passive no longer gives EXP in the case of a tie between his highest HP unit and his opponent’s.
  • Core Set cards with the Weapon or Armor tribal type are now Equipment.
  • Daily Quest Updates
    • First Win of the Day now gives 200 Gold
    • First PvP Win of the Day now gives 150 Gold
    • Second PvP Win of the Day now gives 100 Gold
    • Third PvP Win of the Day now gives 50 Gold
  • New versioning scheme - this is version 0.8.0, next major version will be 0.9.0, etc.
  • Card Creator
    • Players once again start with 99 HP in the Card Creator.
    • You can now set mana costs on Active abilities
    • “Define this card’s property…” has been marked obsolete because it had inconsistent and confusing behavior when using custom properties. It will no longer show up as an option, except on blocks that already use it.
    • The Abilities property on cards no longer contains “Innate” abilities such as Attack, Block, etc. and it no longer contains the card’s Play Ability (Play Abilities are what happens when you play the card, such as Summon effects). Play Ability is available on its own property. Removing the Play Ability of a card without a Summon effect will make it unplayable.
    • Adding a Summon ability to a unit will now replace its existing Summon effect. Similarly, removing a Summon ability from a unit should now work as expected: the unit will simply be playable like any other unit.
    • New Block - Check if Ability Derives from Trigger Keyword - checks if an ability is a Summon, Entomb, etc. ability.
    • New Animations
      • (Directed) Energy Pulse
      • (Directed) Ice Bolt
      • (Directed) Lightning Bolt
      • (Directed) Ninja Star
      • (Self) Ancient Power
      • (Self) Dark Circle
      • (Self) Energy Buildup
      • (Self) Flash
      • (Self) Lightning Buildup
      • (Self) Musical Song
      • (Self) Skull Rise
  • Bug Fixes
    • Fixed a bug where a Choose block with nothing to choose from wouldn’t clear the previous Choose result. This fixes a bug in Purrlock, and possibly other cards.
